The feud between the two families, the Capulets and Montagues, has gone on for aslong as anyone can remember, yet no one is willing to put the past behind them.
We start after the third civil brawl has taken place, Captain Prince has had to intervene and warns both families that if this happens again, both Montague and Capulet will have to pay with their lives.

Having been at this feud, Benvolio goes in search of his cousin Romeo and discovers that he is “in love” with Rosaline, which is why he’s feeling so down, she doesn’t feel the same way. To cure him of this melencholy, Benvilio takes Romeo and their other friends along to the great Capulet Masked Ball. It is there where he meets Juliet and Rosaline is isntantly forgotten. The two meet up and declare their love for one another despite being of rival blood and make plans to marry. Romeo confides this in Friar Lawrence, and believing this will reconclie the two families, he agrees to marry them in his cellar.
Things seem well until hot-headed Tybalt challenges Romeo to a duel for turning up at a Capulet Ball. Romeo refuses and tries to keep the peace as they are now, related by marriage. But Mercutio, Romeo’s best friend and who is also unaware of the marriage, is enraged by Tybalt’s attitude and accepts the duel. This just adds more fuel to the fire and the feud intesifies. No one is hurt, but for how long?
